The Problem: Remote Healthcare Needs Better Tools, Not More Hassle
Korion Health is on a mission to revolutionize remote healthcare by helping patients record their heart and lung sounds at home and securely share them with their doctors.
The challenge? Healthcare providers needed a better way to access and manage these recordings. The existing website was still in early wireframing stages, and it lacked the functionality to:
Securely log in and manage patient data
Allow patients to record and share their heart and lung sounds seamlessly
Improve the overall user experience for both patients and healthcare professionals
My team and I set out to design a more intuitive, user-friendly platform that would make remote health monitoring easier and more accessible.

01. Understanding the Problem from All Angles 🔍
Getting the Full Picture 🎙
We kicked off the project by evaluating the client’s website, analyzing interviews and questionnaires provided by the Korion Health team. Three key priorities emerged:

02. Getting Clear on What to Fix
Now that we had identified the major pain points, we defined the core improvements that would guide our design decisions:
These priorities ensured that our design choices were focused on solving real problems, not just making things look better.
With a clear direction, we started sketching out how users would interact with the platform
Focusing on Real User Needs 🎯
To ensure a smooth experience, we grouped user stories into a logical flow that guided users through key interactions:

Structuring the user flow before wireframing allowed us to ensure logical, frictionless navigation, preventing unnecessary steps or confusion.

03. Designing a Clearer, More Efficient Design
Wireframing: Laying the Groundwork for a Seamless Experience 📊
I took charge of User Flow 3 (viewing past recordings) and worked on designing a user-friendly dashboard where patients could:
Easily access past recordings of their heart and lung sounds.
Start a new recording session with minimal steps.
See clear timestamps and recording details without unnecessary clutter.
Keeping the design simple and intuitive was key, we didn’t want users to feel overwhelmed by unnecessary features or information.
Borrowing the Best from Healthcare UX
We explored existing healthcare websites to see what worked well and what didn’t. A few important takeaways shaped our design choices:
This research helped us design with user expectations in mind, rather than reinventing the wheel.
Finding the Right Balance ⚖️
Our team created two design variations to give the client options:
Version 1 (Chosen by the Client):
Version 2:
The client ultimately chose Version 1, as it better aligned with their brand identity and provided stronger contrast for accessibility.
Ensuring Consistency and Accessibility 🎨
To maintain a cohesive and user-friendly experience, we developed a style guide that defined key design elements:
Finaly, We are getting somewhere
Once the UI direction was solidified, we built a high-fidelity prototype in Figma to showcase the final experience:

04. Bringing the Vision to Life 🎨
Making Sure Everything Translates Smoothly 🛠
A great design is useless if developers can’t bring it to life. To avoid miscommunication, we provided developers with:
By making the handoff process as clear as possible, we ensured the final product remained faithful to our design vision.
Key Takeaways and Lessons Learned 🤔
Working on Korion Health deepened my understanding of healthcare UX challenges and the importance of intuitive, accessible design. A few key takeaways:
Simplicity is Key—Medical users need clarity, not complexity.
Collaboration Strengthens Design—Close teamwork led to a more polished final product.
Client-Centered Approach Wins—Iterating based on direct client feedback ensured the final solution met real-world needs.
I would love to conduct usability testing to gather real user feedback on the dashboard experience if given more time. Continuous iteration and refinement will be key to optimizing the platform for patients and providers. 🚀
